The second Nordic Delight festival takes place very soon! On Saturday 4 October to be precise. Which means, we at Nordic Vibes are getting more than a little bit excited about the iminent influx of Nordicness to the locality. The event is a celebration of Nordic lifesyle – a magical expedition that will encompass music, art and design, food and film. Here one NV writer takes a look at the line-up of musical acts that await!
It is now only a matter of days away. The Nordic Delight team has finalised the line-up and the timetable is set. There are numerous volunteers busy preparing decorations and making sure the new location will have a suitably Nordic feel. This year the event will take place in an exciting location in the city centre of Utrecht: the Centraal Museum – the former medieval Agnieten monastery that is now home to the museum has a mystical character, with its Viking ship and the Danish organ in the Nicolaïkerk, making it a perfect location for the Nordic Delight festival.
Musical delights
A full day of musical goodness awaits, with bands travelling from all the Nordic nations. The festival team has shared more than a few snippets of the music in a handy mixtape (see below).
A good mix of acts will have crowds tapping their toes and swaying to the beats. There is ambient electronica from Vök (IS) (who only recently shared the brand new track Við Vökum with the world) and Sailor & I (SE), up-tempo beats from Sekuoia (DK) and Wintergatan (SE), psychedelic sounds from Disaster in the Universe (NO) and Death Hawks (FI), and melodic folk from Árstíðir (IS), Heimatt (DK/NO) and Loney, Dear (SE). Then there are the also acts that we shared recently via our luistertips, including Jennie Abrahamson (SE) (see here) and Einar Stray Orchestra (NO) (see here).
& that’s only the tip of the iceberg!
One thing is for certain, there’s a lot to be excited about musically, not to forget about the films, art, design and food. A true celebration of a well-rounded Nordic lifestyle lies in store. Be sure not to miss out on tickets which are available at the event website here.
