We are currently experiencing a mini-heatwave in the Netherlands (it won’t last, probably by the time this article gets posted it will be a long lost memory). Right now though, it is hot! And as I ponder some watery ways to cool down, my mind wanders to our latest luistertip on our own Nordic Vibes website.
If you recall (see here for a quick recap), it features the latest album from Sweden’s Shout Out Louds, Optica. One of the tracks on the album is called ‘Blue Ice’. (Ice is cool… yes, thinking of ice is helping, I’m cooling down already.) A little while back, this song was issued as the first single from the album as an extremely limited release – a 7″ record made of ice! Yes, you heard right. And if you want to see – and hear – more about what a record made of ice sounds like, check out this video:
Yes! Feeling cooler already.
What else might help? Playing about with some water maybe? If you recall the magnificent plunging-into-a-pool photo of fellow Swedes This Is Head a few weeks back in another luistertip (see here), you might also recall the song ‘Time’s an Ocean’ which features the question ‘Are you swimming/are you floating?’ Having a splash around would bring the temperature down a bit.
And the last suggestion? Why, jumping into the water fully clothed is the only thing! This is where the Norwegians make a splash – a beautiful song by Jonas Alaska, ‘If Only As A Ghost’, will bring the tempo down a bit as well as the temperature (filmed by André Chocron).
