Inspired by the images of Scandinavian wilderness that were brought to mind in last week’s luistertip (Burning Heart’s Extinctions), this week the natural theme continues as Nordic Vibes offers up a smattering of nature-tinged tips of ten bands playing at by:Larm Festival.
The festival that takes place this week in Oslo is a hotbed for new Norwegian acts, as well as other Nordic talent. That’s one of the provisos for getting to play this festival: if you’re not Nordic, you won’t get on the bill. So it’s all eyes on by:Larm once again, to discover some more Nordic musical delights that we can share with you.
It would be difficult for the home-grown talent of the aurora-cloaked Nordic lands not to be inspired by their environs, and so it is hardly surprising to see not only the lyrics and song titles but also band names linked to the elements and aspects of the weather-worn landscape – light, wind, air, sea, salt, rocks, mountains, crumbling ground, trees – and if that tenuous link is not enough to share with you some great music from some great bands, I don’t know what is. Enjoy!
