Swedish band Thus:Owls, just returned from SXSW in Austin, Texas, is kicking off a short European tour with two dates in the Netherlands, the first being tonight in Amsterdam!
When the band last took to the stage in Paradiso (as part of Indievloot, May 2011), lead singer Erika Angell was enchanting, with her barefoot prowess on-stage – with arms rising and falling and floaty fabric washing around her. The band creates a cinematic swathe of atmospheric sounds, that both captivate and enthrall the audience in equal measure.
Since the last time they were on Dutch soil, Thus:Owls’ second album ‘Harbours’ has been released. The band retreated to a little village in France to record it. On the banks of the Seine, they locked themselves away behind historic stone walls in the studio La Frette. The album is only available in Sweden at the moment (worldwide release to follow), although the lovely folk at The Line of Best Fit streamed it online and you can listen here:
The LP continues the experimental nature of this band’s unique sound that is somewhat hard to categorise and all we can do is recommend the live show so you can make your own mind up!
